Hair Straightener?

How can you tell if your hair straightener needs to be replaced? What are the signs that it is dying?Hair Straightener?
It might snag your hair, not heat up properly (which might mean that it doesn't get as hot as it used too, heats up unevenly, or takes longer to heat up), or have a funny burning smell that might also make your hair smell bad. The last is caused by a build up of product on the plates. It can be fixed with Flat Iron Cleaner but, depending on how long you've had your iron, it's probably better to start a new.Hair Straightener?
I don't think they start dying, instead just out of the blue one day when you plug it in and it doesn't get hot that's obviously when it died. Two of my past hair straighteners died and both just stopped working one day when I went to plug them in. If that's happened with yours try hitting the reset button first, sometimes that's all it needs, if not then it's probably dead. If it's making noises or sparking get rid of it it's ruined and/or probably dangerous.
ya can tell if the hair straightener is not staightening and well like not getting enough heat. also if the hairstraightener is burning you hair or smells like your hair is getting burnt but also just a burning smell like a over heated VHS. but you can usually tell if it is dying. main over all thing it not working how it used to work.

If the metal part like the inside of it is blackish brown or it feels kinda bumpy or wierd when you straight it, it means you need to replace it. it happened to me before, if your looking for a good one get a chi one. they last for a long time. iv had mines for more than 2 years and it looks brand new.
Are the plates wobbly? Does it take forever to heat up and even then it just doesn't straight right? It may be your hair too though. I've noticed that if my hair gets to a certain length it just doesn't straighten well at all.
Not heating up as quickly, not straightening as easily, things like that. Go buy a nice one which prob. costs about $40 so it'll last longer. I am not really sure what to say..... =)
if it dosent heat up..or it heats up to high that it burns your hair and the plates start to burn...

If it makes ur hair smell burnt or if it smells burnt it prolly should b replaced. =)
if it is not hot enough or doesn't straighten ur hair as nice as it used to
it doesn't heat up.
uhhh... if it doesn't straighten. isn't that obvious?
