chi it has a built in brush like so as u go over it it brushes it, go over ur ends and then go root to tip its proven to be the best absolute best straitener it will get naturally crazy curly hair straitened completely in half the time (its proven) it also has its own product line like sprays, brushes,everything :) hope this helps
